MASSES OF VERY NEUTRON-DEFICIENT NUCLEI IN THE TIN REGION

摘要
Using γ-ray spectroscopy techniques, the β+/(EC + β+) probability ratios have been determined for individual beta transitions in the 108Sn → 108In, 106Sn → 106In and 104Cd → 108mAg decays. From a comparison of these ratios with the theoretical ones, the electron-capture decay energies QEc have been found to be 2048 ± 28, 3125 ± 80 and 1396 ± 26 keV, respectively. When combined with the known masses of 108,106In and 104mAg, and mass-difference data from earlier particlespectroscopy studies on very neutron-deficient xenon and tellurium isotopes, the new QEC values yield the following mass excesses in keV : - 83720 ± 30 (104Cd), - 73245 ± 130 (105Sn), - 77460 ± 90 (106Sn), - 82050±90 (108Sn), - 67620 ± 130 (109Te), - 72325 ± 100 (110Te)and - 62100 ± 130 (113Xe). The results are discussed in terms of semi-empirical mass formulae. The strength of the Z = 50 proton shell far from β-stability is derived from experimental data in a model-independent way. © 1979.
