Diquinolinium-tetrachloro-cadmate, (ChinH)2CdCl4 (DTC) has the following lattice parameters: monoclinic, space group (C2/c, a = 15.67, b = 8.49, c = 21.95°, β = 134.3° Z = 4. The structure analysis is based on 1020 intensities, measured on a Weissenberg counter goniometer. From two- and three-dimensional Patterson and Fourier series, the structure has been derived. After least-squares refinement R = 0.05 was reached. The structure of DTC consists of CdCl4- tetrahedra and pairs of parallel situated quinolinium ions. The N atoms of quinolinium are connected to the Cl atoms of CdCl4- via strong hydrogen bonds, the N-Cl distances being 3.06Å. © 1969, Walter de Gruyter. All rights reserved.
