NANOCRYSTALLINE CERAMICS - POSSIBLE CANDIDATES FOR NET-SHAPE FORMING

摘要
It is shown that compacts of nanocrystalline (n-)TiO2- x powder can be formed at temperatures below 900°C. This processing yields, in one step, a final ceramic product with a desired shape. The n-compacts and dense ceramics are characterized by X-ray diffraction, BET- and density measurements as well as by scanning electron microscopy. The fracture toughness of n-ceramics is found to be increased by a factor of 2 in comparison to conventional polycrystalline ceramics. © 1990.
