EXAFS STUDY OF BA AND LA STRUCTURAL ENVIRONMENTS IN FLUOROZIRCONATE GLASSES

摘要
The anionic structures around Ba and La cations have been studied by EXAFS spectroscopy in two-component and multicomponent fluorozirconate glasses. The Ba-F distances and Ba coordination numbers were about 2.70 Angstrom and 7.2-7.4 in all glasses, respectively, similar to those in crystalline BaF2, whereas the La-F distances and coordination numbers were about 2.43 Angstrom and 9.6 in all glasses, similar to those of LaF3, within the experimental error. The structural roles of Ba and La in these fluorozirconate glasses appear to be those of a modifier and of an intermediate cation, respectively.
