In the Third World, dung is used to produce increased amounts of food and for cooking food. The energy and economic returns for these uses of dung have been evaluated. Available data on the complementary use of dung and fertilizer form the basis of this study. Our results show that dung should be used as a fuel and should not be returned to the agricultural farm.
