摘要
The magnetism of alloys based on the cubic Laves phase compound YMn2 is dominated by antiferromagnetic spin fluctuations which persist to high temperatures. Inelastic neutron scattering measurements allow the spin fluctuation spectra to be studied in detail. We present measurements on a YMn2-xFex alloy covering a wide range of K, omega with good energy resolution. From analysis of the wavevector dependent susceptibility chi(K) we are able to extract the local susceptibility chi(L) which is found to obey a Curie-Weiss law with THETA = - 153 K and mu(eff) = 3.2-mu(B). The development of the spectra at low temperatures is consistent with an approach to an antiferromagnetic phase transition, and is in qualitatively agreement with recent mu-SR data on this system.
