Magnetic susceptibilities have been determined by the Faraday method for alloys throughout the composition range of the sodium-thallium system. Results are consistent with the published phase diagram. Negligible temperature dependence is indicated for the susceptibilities of the intermediate phases Na2Tl, NaTl, and NaTl2, but a Curie-Weiss temperature dependence was found for Na~6Tl with an effective number of 0.63 ± 0.02 Bohr magnetons per thallium atom. The magnetic behavior of Na~6Tl and Na2Tl appears, in both cases, to be consistent with available crystallographic information. © 1969.
