摘要
The radiation characteristics of a horizontal antenna embedded in a conducting half space and illuminated by a refracted electromagnetic wave are investigated. Asymptotic expressions of the far fields are given in two regions: the horizontal plane of the interface at large radial distances from the vertical axis and the upper hemisphere far from the origin. Due to the interference of the fields generated by the currents in different parts of the antenna, the groundwave and spacewave radiation patterns are different from those due to an infinitesimal horizontal dipole. © Copyright 1968 by the American Geophysical Union.
