ANODIC-OXIDATION OF BENZYL ALCOHOL TO BENZALDEHYDE USING HYDROQUINONE AS MEDIATOR IN NONSOLVENT SYSTEM

摘要
In this study, an electrochemical synthesis system in non-solvent system was systematically studied including cyclic voltammograms, IE curves, current efficiency and yield. Hydroquinone is a practical redox mediator in this system. The yield of benzaldehyde at a fixed potential is twice of that without hydroquinone as the mediator in the non-solvent system. Effect of solvent has also been examined to compare with the non-solvent system. The addition of acetonitrile as solvent can increase the yield but reduce the current efficiency.
