DETERMINATION OF I MEV NEUTRON FLUXES FROM T(P,N)3 HE REACTION BY ASSOCIATED PARTICLE METHOD

1 MeV neutron fluxes were produced via the T(p,n)3He reaction and determined by counting the associated 3He-particles under 30° with respect to the proton bombardment direction. Targets of 0.2 mg/cm2T-Ti on 1.1 mg/cm2 Al foils were used. An electrostatic field was applied to reduce the background produced by the Coulomb scattered protons and other charged particles. The results of this method were compared with those of two other methods (recoil proton telescope and methane-filled proportional counter) both based on n-p scattering. Agreement within 2% was found for all three methods. © 1969.
