CRYOELECTROPHORESIS OF SUPERCONDUCTING YBA2CU3O7-X IN LIQUID-NITROGEN

A new electrophoretic technique is reported for the preparation of superconducting films of YBa2Cu3O7-x on silver substrates. Liquid nitrogen is adopted as the electrophoretic vehicle. In the present work, cryogenic electrophoretic depositions are obtained with YBa2Cu3O7-x grains in the superconductive state and this allows further developments of orientated films with improved superconducting properties. Details of the method and of preliminary magnetic and electric measurements are reported. The potential advantages offered by the present procedure in film preparation are discussed and future developments suggested.
