摘要
High-resolution two-photon spectroscopy of atomic hydrogen is now limited by the second-order Doppler effect. In an atomic beam, this effect is responsible for a shift and a broadening of the observed line. In the case of optical transition between S states, we propose to compensate this effect by the application of a magnetic field.
