The molecular zeeman effect in propene and comparison of the magnetic susceptibility anisotropies with cyclopropene and other small ring compounds

摘要
The molecular Zeemand effect has been observed in propene in magnetic fields of 21 kG. The molecular g-values are g(aa) = -0.0789 +/- 0.0006. g(bb) = -0.0424 +/- 0.0004, and g(cc) = +0.0197 +/- 0.0005. The magnetic susceptibility anisotropies are 2X(aa) - X-bb - X-cc = -0.74 +/- 0.30 and 2X(bb) - X-aa - X-cc = +13.4 +/- 0.5 in units of 10(-6) erg/G(2) mole where the c axis is out of plane and the b axis nearly bisects the CCC angle. The molecular quadrupole moments are also obtained. The magnetic susceptibility anisotropies are compared with other molecules.
