摘要
Analytical solutions of the Gilbert equation show that the switching coefficient S(w) can be expressed as S(w) = (2A / gamma)(alpha(2) + 1)/alpha, where gamma is the gyromagnetic ratio and A is a geometrical constant which depends, inter alia, on the initial and final directions of the magnetization vector. From published microstrip measurements of S(w) in a number of recording media, including gamma-FeO2O3, CrO2, Co-doped gamma-Fe2O3, and NiFe and from in-house measurements of FMR linewidth in the same materials at 34.4 GHz we find that the above equation agrees fairly well with experiment for an A value of about 0.5. On this basis, it appears that FMR linewidths can be used fairly reliably to predict ultimate switching speeds of intrinsically fast media such as BaFe and DAT.
