摘要
We report that formaldehyde is formed via oxygen addition to methylene formed from CH2I2 on oxygen-covered Rh(111). Although CH3 is generally thought to be important in methane oxidation, it dehydrogenates completely to CO, CO2, and H2O on oxygen-covered Rh(111); no formaldehyde is detected. These results have important mechanistic implications for direct, catalytic partial oxidation of methane using Rh. The reactions of azomethane, diiodomethane, and iodomethane have been studied using temperature programmed reaction and high resolution electron energy loss spectre-scopies in order to understand C-1-oxidation chemistry.
