NOTE ON THE ISOLATION OF PATHOGENIC AEROBIC ACTINOMYCETES FROM SUDANESE SOILS

A preliminary investigation of two methods of isolating pathogenic aerobic actinomycetes from a group of Sudanese soils was undertaken. By one method, Nocardia asteroides was isolated from 3 out of 4 soils. By the second method, two strains of N. brasiliensis and three of Actinomadura madurae were recovered from 4 out of 10 soils. Both procedures seem to be advantageous for isolating pathogenic aerobic actinomycetes from soils. © 1979, Springer-Verlag New York Inc. All rights reserved.
