RESONANCE-LIKE RESPONSES OF AUTONOMOUS NONLINEAR-SYSTEMS TO WHITE-NOISE

摘要
Responses of two models of autonomous nonlinear systems, one bistable and the other monostable in certain parameter regions, to additive white noise are investigated numerically. We show that the additive white noise can induce coherent oscillations, and both autonomous systems show optimum responses, represented by the maximum signal-to-noise ratio of the output for certain noise strengths. This phenomenon is thus termed as stochastic resonance without external periodic force. © 1994 The American Physical Society.
