Summarizes the results of measurements made on plasma confined in a linear hard-core configuration: EPPE. The maximum plasma density is 1 to 2*1015 cm-3. The ion and electron temperatures reach 50 eV. When the current flowing in the plasma exceeds 80 kA, large magnetic fluctuations are observed, which can be identified with the conditions for excitation of the low frequency electromagnetic waves shows that two distinct modes can be excited, in agreement with the solution of the wave equation. Efficient damping of one of these modes has been observed. The possible origin of that damping is discussed.
