摘要
Sodium smectites exhibit particular advantages for studying selective coagulation. They form colloidal suspensions which contain silicate layers of 1 nm thickness. If mixed colloidal suspensions of high- and low-charged smectites are coagulated, the low-charged silicate layers can be separated from the high-charged ones (selective coagulation). It is also possible to coagulate the low-charged layers together with the high-charged ones (mixed-layer formation). The particle size is the main factor which governs the type of coagulation. © 1979.
