VIBRATION OF GENERALLY ORTHOTROPIC SKEW PLATES

The vibration of generally orthotropic plates is studied with particular attention to plates of skew geometry for conditions of simply supported, clamped, and free-edge conditions. An approximate solution is given for frequencies and modes using the Ritz method with products of appropriate beam characteristic functions as admissible functions. Numerical calculations are made for a particular boron-epoxy composite. The variation of frequencies and modes with orientation of the principal axes is examined for different plate geometries and boundary conditions.
