摘要
Radium implantation in selected cases of cancer of the urinary bladder offers a high cure rate with preservation of normal bladder function. A 3-day course of supervoltage irradiation to the small pelvis on three consecutive days immediately prior to operation was shown considerably to increase the survival rates in stage TII and TIII cases. This was effected by reducing the incidence of local recurrence in stage TIII, by completely forestalling scar implants and by decreasing the rate of metastasis in stages TII and TIII. © 1969.
