RADAR DETECTION OF A DEW EVENT IN WHEAT

摘要
Radar backscatter measurements of wheat were made during two closely spaced nights: one with dew and the other without. Concurrent plant and soil moisture data were also obtained. The ability to detect the dew event was investigated for various radar frequencies, polarizations, incidence angles, and row orientations. The best detection of dew against the background of changing internal plant moisture or soil moisture was found with C band, HH polarization, incidence angles of 20-degrees or less, and view direction parallel to the wheat rows.
