NEW RESONANCES IN THE ATOMIC SPECTRA IN CROSSED ELECTRIC AND MAGNETIC-FIELDS

摘要
We investigate, using essentially a classical model, the behaviour of the quasi-Landau spectrum in crossed E, B fields. Very small values of the crossed (versus to B) electric field are shown to produce strong modifications of the spectra due to the appearance of a new noncoulombic potential well at rather large distances between the electron and the proton. The implications of such features for experimental works on Landau resonances are briefly discussed, as the electric field values are of the order of magnitude of motional electric fields in a vapour. © 1979.
