摘要
1. 1. Active evaporative water loss by panting, sweating and licking was examined in the marsupial brush-tailed possum Trichosurus vulpecula. 2. 2. Sweating as a thermoregulatory response does not appear to occur. Licking does occur at high temperatures but its usefulness in temperature regulation is only of marginal significance, if any. 3. 3. A close correlation between respiratory rate and total evaporative water loss suggested that panting was the principal avenue of evaporative heat dissipation. © 1969.
