摘要
A triaxial testing cell has been developed which enables the study of the stress-strain behaviour of powders up to high stresses and strains. Cylindrical powder packings with a diameter of 13.5 mm and a height of 25 mm can be tested. The cell pressure is delivered by a hydraulic unit, which can maintain any pressure up to 50 MN/m2. A uniaxial pressure several times larger than the cell pressure can be applied to a test sample by using a Tinius Olsen testing machine. Because the frictional losses between the cell and the loading plunger are eliminated, the uniaxial pressure can be measured externally very accurately. The change of volume of the samples can be determined continously during a test by means of a pressure transducer registering the air pressure variations in the test sample. © 1979.
