EVIDENCE FOR QUASI-PERIODIC JULY DROUGHT IN THE HUDSON VALLEY, NEW-YORK

摘要
July Palmer Drought Severity Indices1 (PDSI) have been reconstructed2 for the Hudson Valley region of New York State from the annual ring-width variations of local old trees. Using additional, subsequently developed tree-ring chronologies, we have developed a new July drought reconstruction that extends back to 1694. Variance spectra of the new PDSI series reveal statistically significant quasi-periodicities of 11.4 and 26 yr. © 1979 Nature Publishing Group.
