ALTERNATIVE ELECTROSTATIC POTENTIAL FORMALISM FOR THE POLARIZABILITIES OF LONG FINITE CHAINS OF CONJUGATED POLYMERS

摘要
A semi-classical model for the longitudinal linear and nonlinear polarizability of pi-conjugated polymers, based on the electrostatic potential, is presented. This model provides new insights regarding the response of the polymer to an external electric field. it also leads to an efficient transfer matrix method for extending calculations of finite chains to the very large chain limit.
