STATIC QUADRUPOLE INTERACTION OF 44SC IN BARIUM TITANATE

摘要
The electric quadrupole interaction in polycrystalline barium titanate is investigated by observing the perturbed directional correlatin of the 44Sc gamma-gamma cascade. The time-differential attenuation factor as well as the integral attenuation factor show that the spin of the 44Sc first excited level is given by I = 1. The interaction frequency is found to be ω0 = 30.6 ± 1.5 MHz which corresponds to an interaction strength of 26.8 ± 1.3 nV. The time-differential attenuation factor shows the effects of a probability distribution for the field gradient with a relative width of δ = 25%. No evidence of rhombic fields or after-effects is found. © 1968.
