ANALYSIS OF THE CHRONOPOTENTIOMETRIC RESPONSE OF THE EC MECHANISM

摘要
The chronopotentiometric response, when a perturbation function of the form I(t) = I0tq is applied to the electrode, has been derived for the EC mechanism by adopting the more rigorous expanding sphere electrode model for the dropping mercury electrode. The theory can be applied to the determination of the rate constants of the chemical reaction by simply fitting data to the expressions for the potential-time curves or using working curves. An easy criterion to distinguish if the chemical reaction is reversible or not is discussed. Theory has been tested by using the azobenzene/hydrazobenzene system and a perturbation function of the form I(t) = I0t. © 1990.
