摘要
In the following we comment on a variety of definitions related to partial discharge (PD) phenomena. Although a wealth of PD data exists, there is no general agreement to this date as to the definitions of the various regimes of PD. A certain confusion exists which may be due to the multitude of PD manifestations. Here, an attempt is being made to elucidate some aspects of the PD definitions. We do not claim that this study is an exhaustive one but rather an incentive to further research in this direction. Related problems needing more work are referred to at the end of this Communication.
