摘要：

A new search algorithm, the Generalized Guided Method, for locating a model for contingency tables and a measure of fit related to the R-2 of multiple regression are proposed for the analysis of contingency tables with many cells and large cell frequencies. This algorithm is designed to analyze contingency tables that contain dichotomous and/or nondichotomous (polytomous) variables.
