摘要
The metabolite, fusalanipyrone, produced by Fusarium solani DSM 62416 follows the isoprene rule, so it was termed a monoterpene. However, feeding experiments with methionine-methyl-d3 showed the incorporation of deuterium into the molecule so the biosynthesis via mevalonic acid can be excluded and a polyketide pathway via a tetraketide with two subsequent methylations was established. This biosynthesis is the first example of a polyketide pathway to a formal monoterpene. © 1990.
