Aggregate of an amphiphilic block copolymer (1) derived from 2-oxazolines and horseradish peroxidase (HRP) was prepared by mixing 1 and an enzyme in a phosphate buffer solution (pH 7.0). Resulting polymer-HRP aggregate showed significantly enhanced activity compared with native HRP in chloroform and in benzene. Kinetic studies showed the major effect of the enhanced activity in chloroform was caused by an increase in catalytic activity, V(max).
