FERRIMAGNETIC RESONANCE IN CU2+-DOPED YIG

By doping an yttrium iron garnet (YIG) single crystal with certain paramagnetic ions, it is possible to get some information about their properties by ferrimagnetic resonance, as was shown by us before for Ni2+ ions. Here we describe the properties of YIG containing 1 and 2 wt% of CuO. Cu 2+ ions contribute to the anisotropic energy, their per ion contribution to K being -20×10-2 cm-1 at 4.2°K. K2 in these crystals is smaller and is of the order of -10 4 ergs/cm8 at 4.2°K. © 1969 The American Institute of Physics.
