摘要
The double-stranded RNA (dsRNA)-activated protein kinase (PKR) is a serine/threonine kinase induced in mammalian cells by interferon. It is responsible for the phosphorylation of the protein synthesis initiation factor eIF-2, thus mediating inhibition of protein synthesis. Studies on the expression of the human protein kinase in the yeast Saccharomyces cerevisae and in murine NIH 3T3 cells, provided evidence for the antiproliferative, antiviral and antitumoral functions of this dsRNA activated protein kinase. © 1993 Academic Press.
