FLUORIGENIC GLYCOSIDASE SUBSTRATES - THEIR USE IN THE IDENTIFICATION OF SOME SLOW GROWING MYCOBACTERIA

摘要
Glycosidase activity in slow growing mycobacteria was rapidly detected by the use of 4‐methylumbelliferone‐linked glycoside substrates. The species Mycobacterium nonchromogenicum, M. szulgai and M. marinum showed characteristic enzyme activities which distinguished them from the other species. M. marinum is unique among the mycobacteria so far examined in its possession of a very marked α‐L‐fucosidase activity. These fluorigenic glycosidase substrates should be of value in the identification of slow growing mycobacteria. Copyright © 1979, Wiley Blackwell. All rights reserved
