摘要
Substitutional solution hardening of metals is generally of the gradual hardening type. In this note we consider the effects of substitutional elements in titanium. The data are consistent with the description that the flow stress is controlled by the ease of moving screw dislocations, is the result of the combined effect of the size and modulus interactions, and is consistent with existing theory. At the present state of understanding of the interaction of solute with the cores of screw dislocations, the correlations with the strain parameters are best regarded as empirical.
