STICKNEY-FORMING IMPACT ON PHOBOS - CRATER SHAPE AND INDUCED STRESS-DISTRIBUTION

摘要
The size and rim shape of the crater Stickney on Phobos and the impact-generated stress patterns on the surface are modeled by a simplified method. The results explain the general features of Stickney. Some of the surface stress pattern of the P waves suggests that a region of higher tensile stress may have occurred around longitude 270° W and lattitude 0°. Correlation of this pattern with the groove pattern focusing on the trailing side of Phobos implies a connection of the Stickney impact with the grooves. © 1991.
