AMINO ACID UPTAKE, PROTEIN SYNTHESIS AND POLYRIBOSOME PROFILES IN MATURING ERYTHROID CELLS FROM CHICK EMBRYOS

摘要
Two different stages of maturation of chick erythroid cells (polychromatic erythrocytes from 5-day embryos and reticulocytes from 12-day cells) have been analyzed as to their amino acid uptake and protein synthesis rate. Younger cells are more active in both processes than those of later stages. Polyribosomes from 5-day cells undergo a more rapid breakdown during incubation either in a medium with a low or large content of amino acids than those from 12-day cells. © 1969.
