INTERRELATIONSHIPS BETWEEN DRUG ALLERGY AND ALLERGIC VASCULITIS OF SKIN

The present observations indicated that from the viewpoint of etiology and pathogenesis of dermal allergic vasculitis 50% of cases involved were initiated by drug allergy factors. The clinical picture, pathohistological, and histochemical findings in tissues and blood vessels are identical both in drug allergy and in allergic vasculitis. These alterations involved predominantly each vessel wall manifested as necrosis and heavy deposition of polysaccharides and fibrinoid on the vessel wall. Occasional intravascular thromboses and perivascular infiltrates associated with nuclear leukoclasis of cellular infiltrates were observed microscopically and histochemically. © 1969 S.
