摘要
Spatial solitons of planar cross section are known to mutually attract or repel in a Kerr law medium. Here we describe how self guided beams of circular cross section in an idealized saturating nonlinearity can spiral about each other in a double helix orbit. The different trajectories correspond to the various possible ray paths in an effective graded index (axially uniform) fiber, suggesting the possibility of leakage by radiation tunnelling.
