DYNAMICS OF THE ELECTROCATALYTIC OXIDATION OF CYSTEINE AT NAFION FILM COATED ELECTRODES

Savéant-Andrieux theory is used as the diagnostic tool to characterize the catalytic oxidation of cysteine at Nafion®-Os(bpy)2+/3+ film coated glassy carbon electrodes. The rotation rate, reactant (cysteine) concentration and film thickness are varied systematically, in order to evaluate five characteristic currents quantitatively. The kinetic zone diagram is used to assign the kinetic regime of the system. When the reactant concentration is varied from 0.02 to 1.28 mM, the R+S mechanistic behaviour does not change. The significance of the kinetics in liquid chromatography/electrochemistry application is also discussed. © 1990.
