RECENT DEVELOPMENTS IN DATING ANCIENT CRUSTAL FLUID-FLOW

摘要
Several isotopic techniques have recently been developed or substantially improved, allowing the accurate determination of the timing of fluid-related processes. These include K-Ar, Rb-Sr, and Sm-Nd dating of diagenetic minerals in clastic rocks, U-Pb dating of carbonates, Sm-Nd dating of fluorite and uraninite, Re-Os and Rb-Sr dating of sulfides, 40Ar-39Ar and Rb-Sr dating of fluid inclusions, and U-Pb dating of ilmenite/magnetite, sphene, and rutile. While many of these techniques require further evaluation, some have already resulted in new constraints on a variety of crustal fluid flow models.
