Injecting Role of Metal Colloids in Alkali Halide Single Crystals

摘要
Using the luminescence effect an investigation is made of the carrier injection obtained by strong electric fields from alkali metal colloids into NaCl and KBr crystals. The emission spectrum demonstrates that free electrons and self-trapped holes are involved in the recombination mechanism. The brightness waves are similar to those observed elsewhere in conventional powder cells, while the power dependence of brightness on voltage is rather unusual. The results are discussed on the base of a double-emission model governed by the Fowler-Nordheim formula.
