摘要
The use of Polarised Neutron Reflection (PNR) as an absolute magnetometric technique applied to the study of the magnetic properties of ultrathin ferromagnetic films is discussed and direct evidence for enhanced magnetic moments in epitaxial Fe films sandwiched by Ag, Cu and Pd layers is presented. The magnitude of the enhancement we observe is very close to that predicted by recent band structure calculations. The results emphasise the importance of preparing samples with high quality, sharp interfaces and flat substrates in using PNR to determine the moment per atom in ultrathin films.
