摘要：

The distribution of image phase in the region of an abrupt phase edge is calculated from standard coherent imaging theory. The degree of ringing in the phase response depends on the size of the phase step and the exact form of the response is very sensitive to aberrations. Complex plane plots are useful in visualizing the effect of aberrations.
