QUASI-PERIODICITY VERSUS CHAOS IN HIGH-POWER SOLID-STATE LASERS IN MULTITRANSVERSAL MODE-OPERATION

摘要
A solid state laser operating in one longitudinal mode and several transversal modes may show chaotic behavior according to the Ruelle-Takens scenario. A theoretical model was developed, which is able to explain this kind of optical instability and allows further predictions for the experiment. Meanwhile most theoretical predictions could be confirmed by experimental results with a Nd-YAG ring laser. The experimental studies are presented in this paper. © 1990.
