摘要：

This paper discusses the quantization of chromosome-banding patterns in terms of Gaussian distribution functions (dbf's). A computer program has been developed for fitting density-profiles with any fixed number of dbf's. The performance of the parameterization method has been tested on a dataset of profiles of Giemsa-banded human B-group chromosomes. Two classification programs have been used to examine the parameters statistically. The results are compared with those obtained in a classification experiment with 3 cytogeneticists. © 1979.
