摘要
Ultimate sensitivity in gamma-ray spectrometry can be attained only by reducing background. The relative magnitudes of various sources of background and methods for reducing them in germanium gamma-ray spectrometers are given. Results are presented at sensitivity levels so low that double-beta decay of Ge-76 constitutes an unwanted background.
