摘要
The records of sixteen patients with injury of the popliteal artery were reviewed. One patient was treated with arterial ligation because of infection and later required amputation. Of the remaining fifteen patients, attempts at restoring blood flow were successful in thirteen. Amputation was necessary in the two patients in whom distal flow was not restored and in three patients in whom distal flow was established. The extent of associated injuries to soft tissue, nerve, and bone is the most important determinant of success or failure. These associated injuries also determine the extent of disability in those who retain viable limbs after successful arterial repair. Urgent operation and restoration of arterial flow and adequate supportive and orthopedic care are essential for maximal limb salvage in patients with these injuries. © 1969.
